This post is dedicated to the 25th birthday of the first ‘emoticon’. Carnegie Mellon University professor Scott E. Fahlman says, he was the first to use three keystrokes - a colon followed by a hyphen and a parenthesis - as a horizontal “smiley face” in a computer message.
I remember back in 1994 when I first accessed the internet via a Prodigy ISP account on my brand new 133Mgz Packard Bell Personal Computer… I was paying ‘per minute’ to access the internet so I quickly learned what emoticons were
So here’s to all the emoticons that have grown out of the legendary three keystrokes from Mr. Fahlman.
