I cant believe it. I really cant. Friday Februray 24, 2006 I recieved the following email from 1&1 Internet who is the registrar of the domain ROYOUTH.COM:

1&1 Internet, Inc. recently received notice under Section 512 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) alleging that the above website infringes upon copyrighted materials. As a result, 1&1 has temporarily suspended your account. Under the DMCA, you are entitled to provide “counter-notice” to 1&1’s DMCA agent claiming that the material does not infringe copyrights. If the copyright owner does not bring a lawsuit in district court within 14 days, 1&1 may then reactivate your account.
A proper counter-notice must contain the following information:
1. The subscriber’s name, address, phone number and physical or electronic signature [512(g)(3)(A)] 2. Identification of the material and its location before removal [512(g)(3)(B)] 3. …and with THAT notice the domain was LOCKED and I have been on the phone with 1and1 all day on Monday (Feb 27th) in which after calling technical support they just told me to change the DNS settings back to how they were ( I didnt know how they were changed in the first place) and all should be well…
doing that monday morning, by monday afternoon royouth was working again… but in the evening complaints once again came in that royouth wasnt working. I called 1and1 and to my luck after getting connected to their support team in India they told me that their ‘billing department’ that handles these issues are only in the office from 9-5 EST.
So Tuesday morning Feb. 28th at 9am, I call 1and1 billing, after on hold for literally 10 minutes, I am connected to ‘Ben’ who after explaining the situation tells me for the first time that because someone uploaded a copyrighted image or content on the site, they had to lock my domain immediately. What is really is absurd is the fact that they locked my complete package under which i had the royouth domain along with 26 other domains!
Because yesterday I tried to change the DNS’s to have the website back online (which their technical support told me to do), now the entire package is locked because of this.
Why am I writing this? Basically because I, along with 13,500 other members are being held hostage by 1and1 and their legal team. 1and1 told me it will take 2-4 weeks for their ‘legal team’ to even contact me about the matter. I already placed the complaint on ‘chillingeffects.org’. After doing so I contacted 1and1 again and after 5 minutes, I told them I wanted to speak to their legal team, they put me on hold, and someone else came on the line and hung up in my face. So now I am literally being held hostage.

I am a dedicated user of ROYOUTH.COM which is a legal 501(c)3 non-profit organization. This is an online community of over 13,500 members. This February 24th our webmaster recieved an email that royouth.com acording to Section 512 of the DMCA Act allegedly violates copyright information on the website.
The webmaster NEVER recieved notice prior to this and subsequently had the domain unjustifiably locked and in result has lost clients and income.
Please UNLOCK the account and resolve this matter immediately for the sake of over 13,500 members of this vibrant online community!

ps. on the bright side……some people are getting a very needed vacation from royouth.

Law is law, if your website was involved in breaking the law I hope you face the full force of the judicial system for your negligence.
By the way if you were in their situation I’m sure you wouldn’t care less that 13,500 people are waiting if something wrong had been done against God. Same thing happening here, you’ve done something wrong against Law and they must investigate.
Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

thanks for the comment. the assumption is that someone posted/uploaded something that was deemed to violate copyrights. though our rules clearly state that photos that are not your property are strictly forbidden, you still have members who post photos of celebrities, cars, or photos from other sites. thought our moderators try to keep up with these photos not all are spotted.
the case here is, if i would have been told in advance of this, the copyrighted content would have gone down immediately. but i wasnt told about it.

Have any of you people even thought of asking yourselves, “Is this God’s Will that Royouth is shutdown?” “Is God trying to teach us something with this?”

~amen to that… The fact that we are in this situation in the first place, due to illegal imports of work/ images, etc, we have to take responsibility for our own wrongdoings in that matter (part of the reason why royouth is in this state is bc of the fact that pple copyright other sities)…Not only that, but like u said, its an awakening on our own part as to why this would happen in the first place. Personally, i dont think the juss the site was shut down, but our empty contribution towards it too (all the lacking emphasis on God that it was meant to portray has now turned into a source of amusement and frivility)… with that said, in regards to when royouth re-activates, let us pray that it does, but also that we re-charge as a c h r i s t i a n community too.

thanks for the comments. i sure hope that once royouth is back up that the ones that want to see more christian posts actually participate more. why is it that everyone seems to want a ‘christian’ enviornment, but noone takes any action? that is what puzzles me?! The site is shaped by the members of the community, it is easy to talk. please help out to make it what we want it to be.

You know Cosmin, it amazes me that you emphasize on members to participate more on christian posts and to make it better, but you do nothing.
It amazes me that you IGNORE peoples opinions and ideas to CHANGE Royouth to a better place, but every DAMN time you throw it away like it means nothing. i am furious. Your “thanks for the comments” statement is ALL you have to say on Royouth and on here. Grow up and act like a man!!
It “puzzles me”??? you got to be kidding. hahaha. man, are you right. it’s easy to talk. In fact i am reminded of a truth now that i think about it :
- Wise men speak because they have something to say. Fools speak because they have to say something. – I don’t want your wretched “thanks for the comments.” statement. if you have nothing worthwhile to say that will make a difference on Royouth, then don’t say anything.
I bet you that if your dog wanted a cage at PetSmart you would buy him one. But when it comes to actually taking advice from a Royouth member, you deem him/her to be foolish and just another person that airs their opinions.

not-important… u are stepping way out of line with this. this is not meant to be a forum or debate, it is to support and and yes, acknowledge* the flaws of the system (both the site, and its members infilitrating bad aspects into it). ur name reflects much of the negative feed-back u are giving… theres no need to go bash the creator of the site. he made it, and knows what is best (reasons why he limits his plans or means of expression, are his own advocation, not urs)… btw, acknowledge ur own words, and realize that its members like urself that aid in the poor rep. or ’spam’ of that site… “be the change u want to see,” no need for verbal diaherea, it gets u nowhere

not important… first of all the fact that you dare to defame me by insulting my character is further evidence of your insecurity. You know who I am, you obviously probably know me better than I do to accuse me of such things.
However, the fact that you can say all these things and hide behind your monitor, and not even having the tenacity to expose who you are hiding behind your annonymity and throwing words of fire and stone leaves me no choice but to ignore your comments.
Why would anyone concern themself with someones comments that they dont even have the courage to expose who they are.
I could have easily hid behind an online screenname and did and said whatever I wanted to to whoever I wanted, but I chose to make a difference and try to make an impact within our Romanin Christian Youth. Have I achieved what I sent out to do… not in all aspects but in many YES.
So dont waste my time with your worthless comments until you expose who you are, I’m sure many would have alot of positive things to say about your life. You can flex your vocal muscles all you want. In the end it is the fruits that a tree brings forth, not the words.

Show me your fruits. Because they are extremely few in terms of what you are doing with Royouth.
Don’t wast MY time with your vain words of pride and accomplishment. Just as I “hide behind a screen”, you do the same. Go make a difference on Royouth, instead of leaving everyone to do as they please.
It shows me how much “knowledge” you truly have. You have nothing more constructive and relative to say instead of your “hide behind” defense.
Actually, unlike you, if i start a task or goal -especially spiritually- i intend to do it with the utmost passion, producing the highest results i can possibly within my power. I won’t do it half-heartedly, nor ignore the people that need a guide and teacher.(which you seem to do with Royouth)
If you need to SEE someone before you can believe them or listen to them, you are one UNQUALIFIED individual, to say the least. That statement of yours just proves to me even more of how you deem Royouth.

First of all Cosmin does NOT hide behind a screen name, that is his name, lots of people know him and are more than welcome to talk to him, he is one of the most level headed and nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and unlike you he does not hide under a veil of anonymity like you do, we KNOW who he is, you on the other hand wear a mask and hide. The only people who wear masks are those who are theives, or too scared to stand behing their own values and statements and are forced to hide their faces so I have no respect for you or your statements because you dont even have the courage to stand behind them without hiding who you are. If you firmly believed what you say then you wouldnt need to hide. Its a plain and simple fact that people hide what they are to embarassed to reveal.
You are quite an interesting character, it seems that you wish cosmin to turn royouth into some totalitarian dictatorship where everything is shaped and cleaned to fit the “proper” image. Royouth is not what you seem it to be, royouth is a growing vibrant comunity run by its members, the members (you included) make it what it is, and I dont see YOU doing anything about helping the situation other than complaing. If you want God centered talk then by all means post something, stir a conversation, dont just sit there and complain like a wailing child throwing a tantrum. Your sir/madam are a hippocrite in the highest form; you yourself said

Cosmin has a family to support and in invovled in his church aswell, and he provides royouth as a free service out of his own pocket for us to enjoy. No one forces you to go there, no one forces you to read the content, You CHOOSE to, so its your own fault and no one elses if you dont like it. Not only that but you have the audacity to come into somones personal site and make such accusations? Why dont I come to your home and stand on your porch telling you all kinds of nasty things? I’m sure you’d enjoy it right?
Even the dumbest of beasts knows to stay away from something it doesnt like, if you dont like it dont go, why does that not register with you? The only thing WRONG with the world is people like you, whose mouths are large enough to complain, but whos actions are nonexistant.
Cosmin ignore his foolish talk, The royouth community, including the moderators and myself fully support you and all your actions, there will always be bad apples trying to sour the bunch, all we can do is do what christ taught us and pray for them.

Ha very funny, unlike you atleast I try to keep the site productive and in line, I do more than hide. Everyone knows who I am, I have my pictures, my photos, people know where I live and I’m not affraid because I have nothing to hide. An unlike you I can admit that I’m not perfect and I do admit that I have my faults, I never claimed to be perfect nor all knowing. I am just as free to state my opinion as you are yours, so dont come to me with this holier than thou attitude. You also speak of what you know little of, you have yet to prove you have any authority to dispute this matter other than that of voicing your your own oppinion so once again quit with the hypocrisy and follow your own advice for you are no more qualified to judge on this matter than I am.
No I dont know you, in the same manner that you dont know me.
